Staff

Abby Kidd – Practice Manager. Abby has been part of the PPVC family since 1997.  She has grown up in this clinic working in all areas until she was promoted to manager in 2006.  She resides in Paw Paw with her husband, 2 children, 3 dogs, and 3 cats. Abby enjoys anything outdoors, spending time with her family, doing agility and dock diving with her dogs, and traveling.

Dawn Slavings – Office Manager. Dawn joined the PPVC family in 1998. When not at the office she can be likely be found at one of the many sporting events her kids participate in. Dawn loves spending time with her family and traveling. She resides with her family in Lawrence and has 1 dog and 2 cats.

Laura Grehl – Licensed Veterinary Technician. Laura has been part of the PPVC family since 2005. She resides in Paw Paw with her family and their 2 dogs, 2 cats, and 2 horses. Laura enjoys spending time with her family, showing her horses, and attending car shows.

Kayla Barton – Licensed Veterinary Technician. Kayla joined the PPVC family in 2018. Outside of the office, Kayla enjoys hanging out with her family and friends, spending time with her dogs, watching TV, and sitting around the bonfire.

Megan Vasquez- Licensed Veterinary Technician. Megan joined the PPVC family since 2021. Megan is a LVT and is also fear free certified. She lives in Paw Paw with her husband Hector, 2 dogs and Slender the cat. When not at work you can find Megan bird watching, cross stitching, reading and spending time with her family and friends. 

Brittney Allerding- Veterinary Technician. Brittney "came home" back to the PPVC family in 2023. She currently lives in Kentwood with her fiancé,  cat Sir chicken nugget, and 2 dogs Denver and Copper. Brittney is fear free level 1 certified and will soon take the VTNE to become a licensed veterinary technician. When not working Brittney enjoys taking her dogs for walks, and being with her family up north riding quads.

Tonya Wilson – Veterinary Assistant. Tonya has been a part of the PPVC family since 1998. When she is not here you can find her camping, traveling, and spending time with her family. Tonya lives in Paw Paw with her husband of 42 years and together they have 2 daughters and 6 grandchildren.

Matthew Brusach – Veterinary Assistant. Matthew has been a member of the PPVC family since the day he was born! Matthew is a student at Western Michigan University studying business. When not studying or working at the office, Mathew enjoys building and playing guitars.

Sara Holden – Veterinary Assistant. Sara has been part of the PPVC family since 2007. Sara loves spending time in nature and being present with her fur kids. When not working at the clinic she keeps very busy with dog boarding in her home. Sara has a special interest in hospice and palliative care and loves learning about energy healing modalities for our animal companions. She lives in Lawton with her animal companions and her dear, tolerant husband Tim.

Springe Horner – Receptionist. Springe has been a member of the PPVC family since 2009. When not at work she enjoys kayaking, fishing, playing with her nephews, and reading. Springe resides in Paw Paw with her husband, son, and their dog and cat.

Megan Bigelow – Receptionist. Megan joined Paw Paw Veterinary Clinic in 2026 and is one of the friendly faces greeting clients and their pets at the front desk. Originally from Fennville, Michigan, she recently relocated to the Kalamazoo area. At home, Megan has a Siamese cat named Goose and a German Shepherd named Chevy, and she especially loves meeting fellow Shepherds at the clinic.In her free time, Megan enjoys drag racing with her dad and boyfriend, slot car racing, hiking, and swimming. She is passionate about helping create a positive, welcoming experience for every client and pet who visits PPVC.

Taylor Proskey - Veterinary Assistant. Taylor has been a member of the PPVC family since 2008.  She enjoys playing soccer and loves spending time with her husband and their son.  They have 4 fur babies;  2 coonhounds, Annabelle and Jethro, and 2 cats, Cali and Chloe.

Suzanne Martinez- Veterinary Assistant. Suzanne joined the PPVC family in 2021. She lives in Decatur with her son, daughter, boyfriend, 4 cats, Dean their dog and a hedgehog. When not working you can find Suzanne spending time with her family, boating, or watching a good movie or tv show.

Ashley Prieto- Receptionist. Ashley joined the PPVC family in 2022. She lives with her husband and three boys. They have a cat and two dogs one of which has puppies. When not working and taking care of her family Ashley enjoys kayaking with her family, playing guitar, taking pictures and playing with the dogs. 

Kelly Aukerman- Veterinary Assistant. Kelly joined the PPVC family in 2022. She lives with her husband, 2 dogs, their cat, a bunny rabbit and a guinea pig. And they are expecting a little one this spring! Kelly is a certified veterinary assistant. When not working Kelly enjoys spending her time horseback riding, photography, music, Netflix and shooting guns.

Sarah Clearwaters- Veterinary Assistant. Sarah joined the PPVC family in 2023. Sarah lives in Kalamazoo. When not working Sarah enjoys reading, hunting, being outside, and going to concerts. 

Christina Whetzel- Veterinary Assistant. Christina joined Paw Paw Veterinary Clinic in 2024 and is a compassionate member of our veterinary assistant team. She earned her Bachelor’s degree in Biology from Rochester Institute of Technology and is currently continuing her journey in veterinary school. At home, Christina has a full house with her two cats, Izzy and Larry, and her young Golden Retriever, Ike—who keep her plenty busy and remind her daily why she loves what she does. When she’s not at the clinic, you can find Christina horseback riding, hiking, kayaking, or enjoying a well-earned nap. She loves being part of a small-town clinic where she can build relationships with both pets and their people, and she takes pride in helping each visit feel a little more comfortable.

Emmy Riehl-Schultz - Veterinary Assistant. Emmy lives in Kalamazoo with her husband, kitty, Astrea, and border collie mix Jay (plus or minus a foster). When not working she enjoy skiing, reading, and working on little crafts around the house. Emmy went to Michigan Tech for her bachelors degree and is currently attending veterinary technician schooling. 

Sarah Waligora - Veterinary Assistant. Sarah moved from the Detroit area in 2023 and now calls Mattawan home, where she lives with her boyfriend and their dog, Tucker. She is planning to achieve her goal of becoming a licensed veterinary technician in the next few years. Sarah loves to travel and enjoys lending a hand with the many home improvement projects her partner takes on. When the weather is warm, she can be found golfing, fishing, or relaxing by the shores of Lake Michigan.
